Interesting events and landmark events take place in Dubai all year round. One of the important components of cultural life is a variety of festivals, which are traditionally rich in spring and summer. What events should residents and guests of the emirate definitely not miss?

Eid al-Fitr

This important holiday marks the end of the Holy month of Ramadan and falls on April 10 this year. It is followed by a weekend that lasts a whole week. This is the time that is usually devoted to communicating with loved ones and sharing meals. At the same time, the holiday is felt on every street of Dubai, decorated with traditional lanterns and cozy lights. In addition, Eid al-Fitr is always accompanied by festivals, concerts and shows, and shopping and leisure centers offer pleasant discounts. A mandatory attribute of the holiday is colorful fireworks throughout the city: you can enjoy them absolutely free.

Dubai Food Festival

The annual gastronomic festival attracts great interest from city foodies. This year it is taking place for the 11th time and, as usual, will last almost a month: from April 19 to May 12. The festival is a great opportunity to have fun with friends and immerse yourself in the gastronomic traditions of the region. This is also an ideal time to go to restaurants: from April 28 to May 7, the traditional Restaurant Week is announced, during which you can have lunch at a fixed price - for 125dh or dinner for 250dh. Sets are offered by many city restaurants, including luxury ones. The pop-up project “Dish for 10 dirhams” is also noteworthy: it gives you the opportunity to try interesting dishes from the best chefs at a very competitive price. There will definitely be arancini from Trattoria, crispy dolmades from Philotimos and signature Demon Duck shrimp toast from Alvin Leung. From April 25 to 27, for the first time as part of the festival, the Gault&Millau “Culinary Innovators” event will be held, in which 12 outstanding chefs will take part. Participants include Gregoire Berger (Ossiano), Himanshu Saini (Trèsind Studio), Hisao Ueda and Takashi Namekata (TakaHisa), Jason Atherton (Row on 45), Kelvin Cheung (Jun's), Mohamad and Wassim Orfali (Orfali Bros. Bistro), Roberto Torre (L'Atelier Robuchon) and others.

World Art Dubai

From 2 to 5 May, the Dubai World Trade Center will host World Art Dubai, one of the region's largest and most important art fairs. More than 300 galleries and talented artists will present their works of art. The event is expected to attract up to 10,000 visitors. The fair includes a rich program, including master classes, performances and educational lectures.

Those who are passionate about computer games should definitely add the Dubai Esports and Games Festival to their schedule, which this year will be held from April 19 to May 5. The whole of Dubai will become a playground: citywide tournaments will be held here, as well as lectures, seminars and a cosplay competition. The festival will be a chance to test out the latest game releases, upgrade your gaming gear, and watch the pros compete live at Play Beyond on May 4th and 5th.

Eid al-Adha

Eid al-Adha, also known as Eid al-Fitr, is one of the most significant holidays in the Islamic calendar: it marks the end of the season of Hajj, the annual pilgrimage to Mecca. In Dubai, this is a special time for visitors and residents to experience local traditions and cultural heritage. Festivals and musical performances take place throughout the city, and family entertainment centers and malls often offer attractive discounts and special conditions for guests. This is also a great opportunity to taste local dishes and products: for example, uzi - a mix of juicy lamb or goat meat, cooked over low heat with rice and pine nuts. In addition, during the holiday you can get closer to the traditions of Islam: join a tour from experts from the Sheikh Mohammed Center for Cultural Understanding. They are organizing a  regular tours to the Jumeirah Mosque, which is open to non-Muslim guests. The date of the holiday depends on the lunar cycle: tentatively this year it falls on June 17.

Это также прекрасная возможность продегустировать локальные блюда и продукты: например, узи — микс сочной баранины или козлятины, приготовленной на медленном огне с рисом и кедровыми орехами. Кроме того, во время праздника можно ближе познакомиться с традициями ислама: присоединиться к туру от экспертов Центра культурного взаимопонимания шейха Мохаммеда. Они организуют регулярные туры в мечеть Джумейра, вход в которую открыт для гостей-немусульман. Дата праздника зависит от лунного цикла: предварительно в этом году он выпадает на 17 июня.
