Православная Церковь Казахстана осуществила перевод Библии на казахский язык

Yesterday there was a presentation of the books of the Holy Scripture translated into the Kazakh language. This project is carried out on the initiative and blessing of the head of the Orthodox Church of Kazakhstan, Metropolitan Alexander of Astana and Kazakhstan. At the first stage of the project, three of the most widely read biblical books were translated - the Proverbs of Solomon, the Psalter and the Gospel of Matthew.

Вчера состоялась презентация книг Священного Писания, переведенных на казахский язык. Данный проект осуществляется по инициативе и благословению главы Православной Церкви Казахстана митрополита Астанайского и Казахстанского Александра. На первом этапе проекта были переведены три наиболее читаемых библейских книги – Притчи Соломоновы, Псалтырь и Евангелие от Матфея.

“The publication of the books of the Bible in the Kazakh language is of invaluable educational and historical and cultural significance,” said the head of the Orthodox Church of Kazakhstan, Metropolitan Alexander of Astana and Kazakhstan. - The appearance of this translation provides an opportunity for a huge number of people to get acquainted in their native language with the greatest literary monument of mankind, on which a significant part of the entire world culture is based. The translation of the Bible into Kazakh is a good stimulus for its study and understanding, and, of course, a serious and significant contribution to the spiritual and intellectual development of multi-confessional and multi-ethnic Kazakhstan - our common Home.” 

«Издание книг Библии на казахском языке имеет неоценимое познавательное и историко-культурологическое значение, – сказал глава Православной Церкви Казахстана митрополит Астанайский и Казахстанский Александр. – Появление этого перевода предоставляет возможность огромному числу людей ознакомиться на родном языке с величайшим литературным памятником человечества, на котором базируется значительная часть всей мировой культуры. Перевод Библии на казахский язык является хорошим стимулом к его изучению и пониманию, и, конечно же, серьезным и значимым вкладом в духовное и интеллектуальное развитие многоконфессионального и многонационального Казахстана – нашего общего Дома».

This translation of the Bible was the first translation in history made by a team of native speakers of the Kazakh language under the auspices of the Orthodox Church. Attempts to translate the Holy Scripture into the Kazakh language were made earlier, starting from the 19th century. They were performed mainly by Western European preachers who were not native speakers of the Kazakh language, did not have deep knowledge of linguistic features, the Kazakh cultural code, and the perception of the Great Steppe.

Данный перевод Библии – стал первым в истории переводом, выполненный командой непосредственных носителей казахского языка под эгидой Православной Церкви. Попытки перевода Священного Писания на казахский язык предпринимались и ранее, начиная с XIX столетия. Их выполняли преимущественно западноевропейские проповедники, которые не были носителями казахского языка, не имели глубоких знаний языковых особенностей, казахского культурного кода, восприятия Великой степи.

Specialists of the international translation agency worked on the translation of the Holy Books, and the Kazakh Orthodox priest Elisey Kukeyev edited the translated texts.

Над переводом Священных книг трудились специалисты международного агентства переводов, а редактировал переведенные тексты православный священник-казах Елисей Кукеев.

“The most difficult process was the translation of biblical terms,” emphasized Elisey Kukeyev. – It is not always possible to choose them successfully, because they were not previously used in the Kazakh language. Therefore, we had to think carefully, select and use words that convey the maximum meaning that is contained in the Bible in the original.

«Самым сложным процессом стал перевод библейских терминов, – подчеркнул Елисей Кукеев. – Их не всегда можно удачно подобрать, потому что ранее они не были использованы в казахском языке. Поэтому пришлось тщательно думать, подбирать и использовать слова, которые максимально передают тот смысл, который заложен в Библии в оригинале».

Books are bilingual, published in parallel in two languages - Kazakh and Russian. Thanks to this, both Kazakh-speaking and Russian-speaking readers will see the features of the language translation of Bible pages, discover new words, and improve their knowledge of the language. Technically, this was not easy to do - the Kazakh language is more voluminous and contains more words.

Книги – билингвы, изданы параллельно на двух языках – казахском и русском. Благодаря этому и казахскоязычные, и русскоязычные читатели увидят особенности языкового перевода библейских страниц, откроют для себя новые слова, улучшат знание языка. Технически это было непросто сделать – казахский язык объемнее и содержит больше слов.

The books were published in the form of folios - leather bindings with ornamental embossing, gilded sections, picturesque illustrations. The interior design is aesthetically verified, complex, multifaceted. Ornaments in the design contain both ancient Russian and Kazakh motifs.

Книги изданы в виде фолиантов – кожаные переплеты с орнаментальным тиснением, золоченые срезы, живописные иллюстрации. Внутренний дизайн эстетически выверен, сложен, многогранен. Орнаменты в оформлении содержат в себе и древнерусские и казахские мотивы.

The tome is 98% handmade. Work on the design was carried out for a long time and painstakingly - from the selection of materials to the choice of fonts. Some letters of the Kazakh alphabet had to be drawn by hand. They also aged paper for printing by hand.

Фолиант на 98% состоит из ручной работы. Работа над дизайнерским оформлением проводилась долго и кропотливо – от подбора материалов до выбора шрифтов. Некоторые буквы казахского алфавита приходилось дорисовывать вручную. Также вручную состаривали бумагу для печати.

Knowledge and understanding of biblical books is important for every person, regardless of worldview, nationality or religious affiliation. Every cultured and thinking person should have a detailed understanding of the sacred texts of traditional religions - be it the Bible, the Koran or other monuments of world religious literature.

Знание и понимание библейских книг важно для каждого человека вне зависимости от мировоззренческих взглядов, национальности или религиозной принадлежности. Каждый культурный и думающий человек должен иметь подробное представление о священных текстах традиционных религий – будь то Библия, Коран или иные памятники мировой религиозной литературы.
