But what about natural leather, which has always been practically the most favorite material for haute couture? The consumer is no longer the same as before, now for many, environmental friendliness is more important than a high-profile brand. Even Chanel, Burberry, Gucci and Prada have already begun to abandon natural fur and exotic animal leather, what about of the rest.

А как же натуральная кожа, которая всегда была практически самым любимым материалом от кутюр? Потребитель уже не тот, что раньше, теперь для многих экологичность важнее громкого бренда. Даже Chanel, Burberry, Gucci и Prada уже стали отказываться от натурального меха и шкур экзотических животных, что уж говорить об остальных.

And polyurethane, from which "leatherette" is made, is a derivative of fossil fuels, which is not eco-friendly.

Оказывается, именно дубление кожи как раз и загрязняет окружающую среду. Она обрабатывается на производстве хлором, объяснять его вред, думаю, не стоит, это итак у всех на слуху. А полиуретан, из которого изготавливают «кожзам», производное ископаемых видов топлива, что никак не эко.

Bolt Threads' Mylo is a test tube leather made by growing fungal cells to form mycelium and then adding wood flour as fertilizer. At first is made of foam, it is processed and dyed, and it turns into a material very similar to leather.

But in Mexico, they came up with eco-leather from a cactus. Adrian Lopez Velarde and Marthe Casarez recently introduced Desserto, and this is nothing less than the first organic leather made entirely from the Nopal cactus (or Opuntia). Moreover, such leather is partially biodegradable. The characteristics of the material are such that it has flexibility, air permeability, durability, that is, a service life of at least 10 years.

А вот в Мексике придумали эко-кожу из кактуса. Адриан Лопес Веларде и Марте Казарез недавно представили Desserto, а это ни что иное, как первая органическая кожа, полностью изготовленную из кактуса Нопаль (или Опунции). Кроме того, такая кожа частично биоразлагаема. Характеристики материала таковы, что он обладает гибкостью, воздухопроницаемостью, долговечностью, то есть срок службы не менее 10 лет.

We are only in favor of protecting nature, therefore we are waiting for new types of eco-leather and products from them on stores.
