NEWS: A study was conducted: the situation of women in Kazakhstan

There is unequal pay, socio-cultural stereotypes and other findings of the study of the League of Women of Creative Initiative. Taking as a basis the actual gender problems, the public association «League of Women of Creative Initiative» conducted a study on the place of a woman in the Kazakh society. Most of the male respondents of Kazakhstan believe that the girls themselves are to blame for domestic violence, but at the same time they support woman in career growth. They distinguish such professions as doctors and teachers, they are offered to stop at this, arguing that only in these professions can a decent replacement of generations be brought up.

Неравная оплата труда, социально-культурные стереотипы и другие выводы исследования ассоциации «Лиги женщин творческой инициативы». Взяв за основу актуальные гендерные проблемы, общественное объединение «Лига женщин творческой инициативы» провело исследование на тему места женщины в казахстанском социуме. Большинство опрошенных мужчин-казахстанцев считают, что девушки сами виноваты в домашнем насилии, но при этом поддерживают «прекрасный пол» в карьерном росте. Они выделяют такие профессии, как врачи и учителя, на этом им предлагают остановиться, аргументируя тем, что только в этих профессиях можно воспитать достойную замену поколений.

According to the results of a survey conducted among the population, the predominance of the popular opinion about the roles attributed to women became obvious: «A woman, first of all, must take care of children. If she has small children, she, of course, will stay at home. How can she work with her child?»

По результатам опроса, проведенного среди населения, стало очевидным преобладание популярного мнения о ролях, приписываемых женщинам: «Женщина, в первую очередь, должна заботиться о детях. Если у нее есть маленькие дети, она, конечно же, будет сидеть дома. Как она сможет работать с ребенком?!».

Despite the fact that at the legislative level the rights of women and men are equal, practice shows another. This is easily explained by the stereotypes that have been formed over time, especially through the media. Women are forced to make choices: either to work on an equal footing with a man to the detriment of family responsibilities, the fulfillment of which is expected of them by society, or to abandon a career in favor of the family, content with less responsible posts. At first glance, this topic may not seem so important, but since it affects in one way or another 50% of the population of our country, it will not be possible to turn a blind eye to it. Already the fact that public organizations have touched upon this topic speaks volumes: drawing attention to the pressing problem is the first step towards solving it.

Несмотря на то что на законодательном уровне права женщин и мужчин равны, практика показывает другое. Это легко объясняется стереотипами, которые формировались на протяжении долгого времени, в особенности через СМИ. Женщины вынуждены делать выбор: либо работать наравне с мужчиной в ущерб семейным обязанностям, исполнение которых ожидает от них общество, либо отказаться от карьеры в пользу семьи, довольствуясь менее ответственными должностями. На первый взгляд эта тема может показаться не столь важной, но раз она, так или иначе, затрагивает 50% населения нашей страны, закрывать глаза на нее уже не получится. Уже то, что общественные организации затронули такую тему, говорит о многом: привлечение внимания к насущной проблеме – первый шаг к ее решению.
