The first contemporary art fair «ALA ART FAIR 2023» is open in Almaty

В Алматы открылась первая ярмарка современного искусства ALA ART FAIR 2023

It is open to everyone from December 3 to December 10 in the Jusan Vibe space. 10 galleries from Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan and Uzbekistan joined together on one platform, presenting the works of about 30 contemporary artists at their stands.

Она открыта для всех желающих с 3 по 10 декабря в пространстве Jusan Vibe. На одной площадке объединились 10 галерей из Казахстана, Кыргызстана и Узбекистана, которые представили на своих стендах работы около 30 современных художников.

Participating galleries are Pygmalion Gallery (Kazakhstan), Hlmrdv Gallery (Uzbekistan), Occupy Stepe (Kazakhstan), Artmeken Gallery (Kazakhstan), BonArt (Kazakhstan), Museum of Feminist Art (Kyrgyzstan), Altyn Gasyr (Kazakhstan), Dump Gallery (Kazakhstan), Zhaukhar Art Gallery (Kazakhstan), Ilgeri (Kyrgyzstan).

The appearance of a professional fair on the local art market is one of the important signs of the formation and development of the contemporary art market, as well as an attractive event for art tourism. It is important to note that the art of Central Asia today attracts the world's leading institutions, galleries and collectors. In 2023 alone, commercial galleries from Kazakhstan took part in several major international fairs: VOLTA Basel (Switzerland), Art Dubai (UAE), Contemporary Istanbul (Turkey), Asia Now (France), Bazaar Berlin (Germany), etc.

Появление на локальном арт-рынке профессиональной ярмарки — это один из важных признаков становления и развития рынка современного искусства, а также привлекательное событие для арт-туризма. Важно отметить, что искусство Центральной Азии сегодня заинтересовывает ведущие мировые институции, галереи и коллекционеров. Только за 2023 год коммерческие галереи из Казахстана приняли участие в нескольких крупных международных ярмарках: VOLTA Basel (Швейцария), Art Dubai (ОАЭ), Contemporary Istanbul (Турция), Asia Now (Франция), Bazaar Berlin (Германия) и др.

The curators of the first edition of the contemporary art fair ALA ART FAIR were Olya Veselova and Sanzhar Serikpaev.

Кураторами первого издание ярмарки современного искусства ALA ART FAIR выступили Оля Веселова и Санжар Серикпаев.

"We named our fair the Central Asian fair. It was our curatorial decision, because we want to unite our countries through art. It was important for us that this was a professional fair in its classical sense. And we succeeded. We have collected Kazakhstan’s and Central Asian galleries together. However, it was a little more difficult to find galleries in Bishkek and Tashkent. After all, the art markets located there are smaller than the one in Kazakhstan," says Olya Veselova, curator of ALA ART FAIR 2023.

«Мы назвали нашу ярмарку центральноазиатской — это было нашим кураторским решением, поскольку мы хотим объединять наши страны через искусство. Для нас было важно, чтобы это была профессиональная ярмарка в классическом ее понимании. И нам это удалось. Мы собрали казахстанские и центральноазиатские галереи. Правда, найти галереи в Бишкеке и Ташкенте было чуть сложнее, все- таки рынок и арт-сцена там немного меньше, чем в Казахстане», — говорит Оля Веселова, куратор ALA ART FAIR 2023.

ALA ART FAIR gathered not only regional art experts and collectors, but also international curators, gallery owners and journalists. The opening of the local fair also attracts art dealers who are constantly looking for new names and new artistic practices.

ALA ART FAIR собрала не только региональных арт-экспертов и коллекционеров, но и международных кураторов, галеристов и журналистов. Открытие локальной ярмарки привлекает и арт-дилеров, постоянно ищущих новые имена и новые художественные практики.

"Of course, today's event is very important and significant for us. The development of contemporary art and tourism are interconnected with each other. This year we took our artists to various international venues, and I consider this as a big breakthrough. Today at the “ALA ART FAIR” we can see the guests we have met at the fairs “Contemporary Istanbul” and “Asia Now”. Now they are visiting us and getting acquainted with the art and culture of Kazakhstan," said Irina Kharitonova, Director of the Department of Creative Tourism of JSC NC Kazakh Tourism.

«Безусловно сегодняшнее мероприятие для нас является очень важным и значимым. Развитие современного искусства и туризм — это взаимосвязано друг с другом. В этом году мы вывозили наших художников на разные международные площадки, и я считаю это большим прорывом. Сегодня на ALA ART FAIR мы видим гостей, с которыми познакомились на ярмарках Contemporary Istanbul и Asia Now. Теперь они у нас в гостях и знакомятся с искусством и культурой Казахстана», — рассказала Ирина Харитонова, директор департамента креативного туризма АО «НК «Kazakh Tourism».
