Georges Mak and his masterpieces

As a child, with his big brown eyes opened to the world and raised to the azure blue horizon of Beirut, Georges Makaroun (also known as Georges Mak) was fascinated by the never-ending ballet of planes in the agitated Lebanese sky during the dark times of war. He dreamt of perfect, ethereal forms, architectural lines, suppleness, freedom of movement and self-confidence…. He wanted to learn how to make the “flying aces” that graced the cloudless skies.

In his mother’s dressmaking atelier, where evening gowns and wedding dresses made of rich fabrics came to life under her agile maternal hands, this little boy did not hold back from proffering his opinion on the shape of a garment or the drape of a material. The clients and his mother listened, as these were not the critiques of a cheeky child but the observant remarks of a future couturier… something he did not yet know. Aviation and architecture were his only passions at that time.

В ателье своей матери, где вечерние и свадебные платья из богатых тканей оживали под ее ловкими материнскими руками, этот маленький мальчик не стеснялся выражать свое мнение о форме одежды или падении материи. Клиенты и его мать слушали, потому что это были не насмешки непослушного ребенка, а наблюдательные замечания будущего модельера... чего он еще не знал. Авиация и архитектура были его единственными страстями в то время.

After six months of studying architecture at university, a friend suggested they attend a fashion show. During a moment of graceful choreography of brightly coloured silk, lace and taffeta, Georges Makaroun knew that the planes would stay in the sky of his childhood. From then on, he would dedicate all of his energy, passion and creative verve to fashion! Buoyed by this revelation, he enrolled at ESMOD Paris where, before obtaining his qualification in couture, he followed classes in lingerie, which would lead him to his secret weapon: the corset!

After his graduation, Georges Makaroun moved to Florence where he earned his stripes in the ateliers of famous fashion houses such as Valentino. In 2013, he launched his couture brand and very quickly gained wide recognition for the exceptional quality of his eveningwear collections made in the French haute-couture tradition.

In 2014, he also launched a collection that revealed his art for designing cocktail dresses and masculine/feminine Smoking suits.

In 2018, he inaugurated his first House of Couture in Paris.

Georges Makaroun’s creations have seduced high profile private clients around the world for whom he often designs made-to-measure dresses.

His new collections are presented by appointment in the intimate setting of his private showroom on Avenue Montaigne and in several prestigious boutiques around the world.
