Crossroads Maldives presents Ministry of Crab

Crossroads Maldives presents Ministry of Crab

Crab Ministry in the Maldives: CROSSROADS Maldives invites you to sample Sri Lankan Crabs at the Ministry of Crab.

Ministry of Crab.

The centuries-old culinary traditions of different countries, combined with the peculiarities of local cuisine flavored with exotic spices, as well as the recipes of explorers and merchants once wandering the islands, form the basis of the gastronomic concept of CROSSROADS Maldives. The many restaurants of the resort, and there are 13 of them, offer guests to go on an extraordinary culinary journey, choosing their favorite international dishes or local specialties every day.

Ministry of Crab is perhaps one of the most unusual and memorable restaurants not only in CROSSROADS, but also in the Maldives. The highlight of the menu is the Sri Lankan lagoon crab and the freshest seafood. Three times a week, crabs weighing from five hundred grams to two kilograms are delivered to the Ministry of Crab from Sri Lanka. For two-kilogram giants, they even came up with a special name ‘Crabzilla’. Crabs are cooked and served with various sauces such as black pepper sauce, chili sauce, curry sauce, spicy garlic sauce or soy sauce. In addition, you can try Sri Lankan shrimp, oysters and shellfish, as well as other iconic dishes prepared according to the signature recipes of celebrity chef and restaurant founder Darshan Munidasa. For several years, Ministry of Crab has rightfully taken its place in the list of the 50 best restaurants in Asia.

One hundred percent freshness of ingredients is the main principle in the work of the founder of the "Ministry of Crabs". The restaurant even has its own constitution, the first law of which states: "We do not and will not buy frozen seafood, and also freeze them before cooking." The imported crabs are not artificially grown on farms, but are caught in the wild, so their supply is determined by the daily catch, which in turn depends on the amount of precipitation, wind and ambient temperature in the region.

Housed in a colonial-style building at the Marina at CROSSROADS Maldives, Ministry of Crab invites guests to dine with panoramic views of fantastic sunsets, the turquoise Embudu lagoon and the marina lined with snow-white yachts. The restaurant is waiting for guests from 17.30 to 23.00 daily, and on Friday and Saturday also for lunch from 12 to 15.00.

The convenient location of CROSSROADS Maldives, 20 minutes from the capital of the Maldives, Male and Velana International Airport, allows you to visit the restaurant not only for guests staying in one of the hotels of the multi-island resort - Hard Rock Hotel Maldives or Saii Lagoon Maldives - but also for those who travel between atolls and islands or, for example, has free time due to a change in the departure schedule. In order to get to the Ministry of Crab from Velana Airport, at the CROSSROADS Maldives counter at the airport, you need to purchase a ticket for a speedboat and from Pier No. 8 of the MTC Ferry Terminal go to the Marina of the resort to Pier No. 15.
