The U.S. Embassy & Consulate in Kazakhstan is pleased to announce the launch of the fourth annual short film contest «48 Hour Film Race», the program that supports the growth and development of independent film makers emerging in Central Asia, providing training and cooperation opportunities for them, and inspires videographers and filmmakers to learn, interact and create. A landmark project event - a two-day competition - sets the task for the participants to create a four-minute film in just 48 hours. The competition will be held April 6-7. Completed works will then be shown on cinema screens across the region and presented to the jury.

Дипломатическая миссия США в Казахстане рада сообщить о старте четвертого ежегодного конкурса короткометражных фильмов «Снять за 48 часов» (48 Hour Film Race), программы, которая поддерживает рост и развитие появляющихся в Центральной Азии независимых фильммейкеров, обеспечивая для них возможности обучения и сотрудничества, и вдохновляет видеографов и фильммейкеров учиться, взаимодействовать и создавать. Знаковое мероприятие проекта – двухдневный конкурс – ставит перед участниками задачу всего за 48 часов создать четырехминутный фильм. Конкурс пройдет 6-7 апреля. Завершенные работы далее покажут на экранах кинотеатров по всему региону и представят на суд жюри.

This year, registered participants, in addition to the opportunity to participate in the 48-hour competition, will have access to networking and skills development throughout the year. Film screenings of all films that meet the requirements of the competition, will be held in April and May throughout the region. The best films will receive prizes, including the most important - three trips covering all expenses to New York for a week of study at the film school of the Digital Film Academy. The president and founder of the Academy, Patrick DiRenna, said that he and his school were very pleased and honored to be part of a project such as the 48 Hour Film Race, and thanked the US Consulate General in Almaty for supporting cinema and digital media in the region.

В этом году зарегистрированные участники, помимо возможности участия в 48-часовом конкурсе, получат доступ к возможностям для нетворкинга и развития навыков в течение всего года. Кинопоказы всех фильмов, подходящих под требования конкурса, пройдут в апреле и мае по всему региону. Лучшие фильмы получат призы, включая самый главный – три поездки с покрытием всех расходов в Нью-Йорк на неделю обучения в киношколе Академии цифрового кино. Президент и основатель Академии Патрик ДиРенна сказал, что он и его школа очень рады и польщены быть частью такого проекта, как 48 Hour Film Race, и поблагодарил Генеральное консульство США в Алматы за поддержку кино и цировых медиа в регионе.

Last year, the competition attracted more than 1,500 participants and received more than 330 films, which were shown in all cities of Kazakhstan and in Bishkek. Films were also shown at events such as the Go Viral festival, the Eurasian International Film Festival, the Baikonur short film festival, the indie film festival in Almaty, Dushanbe My Vision, and the World Nomad Games. Online registration is available from February 13 to April 4 for citizens of all five Central Asian countries over 18 years old. В прошлом году конкурс привлек более 1500 участников и получил более 330 фильмов, которые показали во всех городах Казахстана и в Бишкеке. Фильмы также показали на таких мероприятиях, как фестиваль Go Viral, Евразийский международный кинофестиваль, фестиваль короткометражного кино «Байконур», фестиваль инди-фильмов в Алматы, Dushanbe My Vision и Всемирные игры кочевников. Онлайн регистрация доступна с 13 февраля до 4 апреля для граждан всех пяти стран Центральной Азии старше 18 лет.
