October 10 in the art space Dostyk Plaza Igor Chapurin held the master class, and then was the fashion show of the collection within Kazakhstan Fashion Week specifically for Almaty residents and guests of the southern capital. Igor Chapurin answered the questions of Styleofeurasia.

How much do you feel comfortable in this profession now?

«Each designer has his own mission, which he does for his admirers. When I started my career during «perestroika», for me there was only one task - try to break the dislike of Russians towards Russians, in terms of perception of design and productions. My whole family from light industry, my mother was in charge of a knitting factory, my father was engaged in equipment, so I set myself ample tasks. Even at a time when nothing was there and it was impossible to work, I felt comfortable, it was interesting to me to move to my goal, after we dressed almost all the world and domestic stars, I did not lose interest in my profession. When I was asked in France what I want to tell about Russia, I said that I do not want to talk about kokoshniks, black caviar and felt boots, but I want to show a modern country through modern design».

In which country, in your opinion, is the most interesting and unusual styristyle?

«I can talk about Holland, the Scandinavian countries, it's very interesting, but as a man of the classical perception of life, I cannot convince myself, therefore, London. It is in this city that you can see how skillfully people do not resemble anyone, how skillfully people create through their appearance».

Is there a chance for post-Soviet states to be fashionable and create world trends?

«It seems to me that everyone has chances, because if you dig deeply into the history of fashion of the 20th century, then there was a real cult of France, and London was on the outskirts, there were no designers, Italy had its own style, but there were no personalities, America was imitating Europe, but time has shown that fashion is developing magnificently. In the Netherlands, Belgium, in Japan brilliant artists are born, in Russia I was for a long time the only designer who dressed foreign stars. And now I can name other designers and my generation and the next, and when the echelon of western stars does not abhor the Russian design, it says that Russia is developing correctly. I am sure that everything depends on the individual, no one invested anything in me, as in Vyacheslav Zaitsev, we developed because we were manically fond of our profession. Any state will develop only thanks to personalities, if they fight to the end for quality, for their personal design, for their face, then gradually they will succeed».

What phenomena in the fashion industry you do not like, and which ones like?

«I do not like disrespect for the past, this is a very weak link in the current fashion and designers, fashion is based on the past as any art. If modern designers and fashion critics do not appeal and do not perceive what the best creators have done, it shows that these people do not have a future. It is not professional and productive. And the younger generation is pleased with the renewal in the fashion industry and people are not lazy, marketing and advertising makes it possible to be active to a large number of young people in the fashion space, because the fresh generation is fresh blood».

What should be in the base wardrobe of any woman?

«Black dress, since this dress is of any mood, it is small or on the floor, it does not matter. It is also important to have a pencil skirt and a thin cashmere sweater, and one neutral high-heeled shoes, and you will always be beautiful».

What collection did you bring to Kazakhstan?

«Since the collection Spring-Summer 2018 will be shown in Moscow on October 13, we brought our favorite collection autumn-winter 2017-2018, it is very complex in color, complex in cut, we want to show what we would like to see on the streets of Almaty and other cities of Kazakhstan».
