The most Parisian of the museums in Paris

After reconstruction in the historic district of Paris, the "Most Parisian of the museums of Paris" opened its doors - this is how the inhabitants of the French capital invariably speak of the Carnaval Museum (Musée Carnavalet), which occupies the building of an old mansion near the Place des Vosges. And this is not a tautology at all: while the other museum collections of the city are devoted, at best, to France as a whole (and even to global "matters" - art, science, and so on), the Carnavalet Museum honors beautiful Paris - and nothing else. Its exhibits will tell about the history of the most romantic and magical city on the planet and reveal some of the secrets that Paris carefully protects from strangers. Posters for the Folies Bergère and Black Cat cabaret, photographs of the first Lanvin boutique, cradles, secretaires and portraits of the mistresses of the French monarchs are just a small part of the treasures of the Carnavalet Museum. In the hall of the French Revolution you can see the original keys to the Bastille, handcuffs, models of guillotines and a ring with a lock of Louis XVI's hair.

После реконструкции в историческом районе Париже открыл свои двери «Самый парижский из музеев Парижа» — так неизменно отзываются жители французской столицы о музее Карнавале (Musée Carnavalet), занимающем здание старинного особняка у Вогезской площади. И это вовсе не тавтология: в то время как прочие музейные собрания города посвящены в лучшем случае Франции в целом (а то и общемировым «материям» — искусству, науке и так далее), музей Карнавале чествует прекрасный Париж — и ничего кроме него. Его экспонаты расскажут об истории самого романтичного и волшебного города планеты и раскроют некоторые секреты, которые Париж тщательно оберегает от незнакомцев. Афиши кабаре «Фоли Бержер» и «Черный кот», фотографии первого бутика «Ланвен», люльки, секретеры и портреты любовниц французских монархов — вот лишь малая часть сокровищ музея Карнавале. В зале Французской революции можно увидеть оригинальные ключи от Бастилии, наручники, модели гильотин и перстень с прядью волос Людовика XVI.
