December 23 in Almaty was the first in Kazakhstan thematic platform parade – «It's time to parade».

In the first Almaty independent parade, more than forty urban civil societies participated. Platforms united like-minded people in 9 main areas: «Velo-community», «Special people», «Board games», «Childhood», «Motherhood», «Sport», «Artists», «Zooprotection». And a separate platform, like a birthday greeting from the southern capital - North, - «20 years of Astana!».

The route of the solemn procession ran from the Abai Opera House along Panfilov Street to the square «Astana». The distance is small, but loaded with meanings. Abai Opera House as a symbol of old Almaty, the cultural capital - this is the start, the beginning of Independence, the beginning of the path of 26 years. And the end point is the «Astana» square, a symbol of the capital, celebrating its 20th anniversary this year, a symbol of the new modern Kazakhstan. «It's time for the parade» is a joint project of the city Akimat, the Department of Tourism and Foreign Relations of Almaty and the creative agency FUNK. Parade heroes are enthusiasts, people with an active lifestyle, who spend every day of their lives on positive changes, on solving practical questions. Their activities are usually associated with assistance in such sensitive areas for society. Rehabilitation of disabled people and their inclusion in normal social and professional life, the rehabilitation of mothers, after all, during the decree, a woman loses her connections and professional involvement, the protection of our smaller brothers - all these important issues that the city authorities do not always have the appropriate tools and knowledge «from within».

It should be noted that the theme of development and involvement of citizens in the work of urban communities was raised at the Art Energy Almaty festival at the Tram Depot in September this year. The purpose of the autumn festival was an initial acquaintance on a city scale of representatives of the city administration, city communities and representatives of business. A worthy goal, therefore the idea of the Parade was supported by the Almaty Akimat and the Tourism and External Relations Office. The parade of communities, as it should be, was a parade of «handmade»: platforms, suits and masks. Deep senses with intentionally «naive» incarnation underscore the main idea of active citizens – «to do big things, you do not need to have a lot of money». The platform design is a collaboration of artists, designers and urban communities themselves, who thought how to illustrate, through symbols, the idea of communities, their meaning, their activities.

Worked and had fun all. Adults and children, participants, volunteers, spectators and casual passers-by all fell into dancing, role-playing games, quests, competitions, master classes to create masks, and battle on cardboard swords. Among the townspeople who joined the parade, they held a contest for the best costume. Anastasia Fatyanova received a ticket to the hot countries for the costume of an owl. The prize was given personally to the most creative participant of the parade by the director of the tourist agency ARDAK TRAVEL Zemfira Tatarova. The second place was awarded to Aidara Hayyrzhan. She received a certificate for 10 thousand tenge from the publishing house «Aruna» and a puzzle with views of Almaty. The third place was taken by Evdokimenko's family. They received a certificate for 3 thousand tenge from the publishing house «Aruna», the designer «Rocket» and a puzzle with the views of Almaty. The smallest participants in the Parade and the competition were given incentive prizes. And in the evening, the most unusual avant-garde tree was lit on the square, under which cardboard dogs, birds, warriors stood in «round dance»... And these are not New Year's costumes, they are symbols of the communities that gathered in the square today. Real wings are not given to person, but to change something here and now, it is enough and cardboard.
